Drunken Stuper

Wrong Decision-Lesson Learned

I have this friend who started working at a small bar a few months ago. I thought it was going to be a great experience because it meant that i could get free drinks. I started going on Friday nights. After a few weeks went by, I began to realize that I was limiting my social life - I could be having this much fun more than just one night a week.
That turned my Friday night bar fun into Friday AND Saturday night karaoke, then Wednesday,Friday,an Saturday.Eventually I started going almost every night of the week.I was unemployed for a very long time so being at that bar, getting free drinks, seeing the same familiar faces, enjoying the nightly chaos and drunken entertainment was refreshing social interaction. It made that small "hole in the wall" bar feel more like a second home, and even a second family in a way. My friend was loving her new found pleasure as a bartender, and I definitely enjoyed it as well.
Once my friend and I got into a routine she started to work at another bar in another small town. I started spending money I didn't even have at the bar to buy drinks.I didn't want to drink alone, so naturally I invited a few friends to come out with me.We soon began a new routine of hanging out at this small little bar.Everyone knew us there.I started to flirt my way into free drinks and so did my new bar-buddy.Without my original friend there to serve up the free beverages it was tough to be able to afford my new habit.I didn't drink often before my friend had gotten that job,and sadly I started a long spiral of depression and I didn't even realize it until it was too late.
My new bar-buddy had just lost her home and was in desperate need of employment. Her car was impounded because she got arrested for a DUI.There was only one way to get it out and that was either borrow money or get a job that paid cash. She and her mother have never been on good terms,so asking for cash was out of the question. She had heard from another friend that a local strip club would hire on the spot. She decided to try her hand as a dancer there, even though she had never done it before. She definitely had the body for it.As her friend, I offered to drive her out there to try it out since I had a vehicle and she didn't.
The first night was fun and she bought me a few beers with the cash she made dancing.I stayed until closing time to drive her home. The next day we both got ready and drove out to the club early so she could practice a little before her shift.I will say this - not everyone can strip dance. One of the other dancers came up to me and said the owner wanted to speak with me.I automatically assumed he wanted to offer me a job(he had done the same thing the night before and I said I would think about it).He then proceeded to tell me that he wasn't going to allow me into his bar anymore because I was taking business from the dancers because I mingled with the customers, and I am attractive, and many of them had asked if I could give them a dance.
After getting kicked out of the strip club I was a little angry, and decided to drive to the out-of-town bar where my other friend was working.I picked up one of my guy friends and we made the drive.Once we got to this other bar I was more than ready to drink.I had a grand total of 4 beers at the bar, which was but a fraction of my usual number at the bar in my home town.We needed to get some gas in my car before we headed back home, so we went to a convenient store that was just down the road.I was hot,so I took off my over shirt and all I had on was my lingerie top and my denim shorts.I made my guy friend go in to pay for the gas so I wouldn't get any dirty looks.
The dash lights in my car weren't working and wouldn't come on.I decided to proceed home anyway. We made it about 100 yards from the gas station before a police officer turned his lights on in the rear view.I knew then that I was doomed.Long story short I went to jail in my lingerie because the officer wouldn't let me put my shirt back on.I had NEVER been in trouble with the law before that night.Spending time in that jail cell and speaking with some of the other inmates made me realize that I didn't belong there.I wasn't that type of girl.I did a lot of thinking in the following days leading to my court date.
I decided that I wasn't going to abuse alcohol anymore, that it wasn't a crutch and didn't really get rid of any of the issues I was having.I am sober now, under supervision of the District Attorney, and regrettably paying my fines. The four free beers I had that night were more than enough to get me put into jail.I realize now that I was risking a lot more than just my record. My life and the lives of others were also in danger for my stupid decisions. I learned my lesson.I hope no one else has to feel the humiliation and disgust that I felt that day.Good luck to you all!
